Once upon a time there was a momma dog that had four pups. They lived in a small dog house in a tiny country town. Three of the pups were kind and listened to their momma. The fourth pup only had three legs and was not a good puppy. He never came when his momma called for him and he did as he pleased. This 3-legged pup’s name was Jibs.

One day Jibs said to his momma, “I’m gonna leave this tiny town and go live in the big city where I can become a movie star!” “Little Jibs, the trip will be very long and it will be hard with only three legs,” said his momma. Jibs hopped down the street without even looking back to say goodbye to his family. He was not a good pup.

Before long, Jibs came to fenced pasture where he saw a little old lady with her dress caught in the fence. “Please little pup can you help me get my dress out of this fence?” asked the little old lady. “I have no time to stop and help you now. I am heading to the big city to become a movie star,” replied Jibs. So, Jibs continued hopping down the long country road.

As he was getting closer to the city he saw an old man who looked very tired and thirsty sitting on the side of the road. “Dear little pup, can you please help me get some water, as I am very tired and thirsty?” asked the old man. “I have no time to help you now, as I am heading to the big city to become a movie star,” replied Jibs. And on he went hopping down the road.

As he reached the city, he saw a little boy who had lost his toy truck. “Please little pup, can you help me find my toy truck?” asked the little boy. “I have no time to help you now, as I am now in the big city and I must find where to go to become a movie star,” replied Jibs.

So Jibs hopped along the city streets and was suddenly picked up by a dog

catcher and taken to the city pound. The next day he saw the old lady who had her dress caught in the fence. She came to the pound looking for a puppy. “Remember me, little old lady, will you get me out of this pound?” asked Jibs “Yes, I remember you. You did not have time to help me when my dress was caught in the fence. I will not help you little pup,” replied the old lady.

Next, an old man walked into the pound looking to get a new pup to take home. “Hey old man, remember me? I saw you on the side of the road. Will you get me out of this pound?” asked Jibs. “Why yes, I remember you. You did not help me find water when I was tired and thirsty because you had no time. I will not help you little pup,” replied the old man.

Later, a small boy walked in looking to take home a pup. “Hey little boy, I saw you the other day. Will you get me out of this pound?” asked Jibs. “You are the three-legged pup who would not help me find my toy because you did not have enough time. I will take you home with me,” replied the little boy. So Jibs went home with the little boy. The little boy’s father was a movie star and trained Jibs to fetch props when needed. Jibs never became a movie star, but he could always be found behind the scenes fetching and running errands.
